Event Info: Does the climate crisis feel so overwhelming that you’re not sure if or how you can fight it?

On Green Snoqualmie Day... YOU CAN! Work together with fellow community members to plant Snoqualmie's Urban Forestry Climate Change Adaptation Demonstration Forest (CCADF). Not only will you DO something on Green Snoqualmie Day, but you will also learn and be inspired to find out more about what you can do to steward and adapt YOUR neighborhood urban and community forest!

Snoqualmie's Climate Change Adaptation Forest is an initiative to reforest a strip of land that previously contained a row of homes damaged by flooding. For the past two years, volunteers have planted trees and shrubs using the strategy of assisted migration: drought-adapted shore pines from Washington's cliffs and coasts, Douglas-firs from Oregon, creeping Oregon-grape from eastern Washington, etc. These, in combination with Snoqualmie's naturally adapted plants, will support Snoqualmie’s urban forest in adapting to a changing climate. This year, Green Snoqualmie will pilot seed-based restoration, which involves broadcasting native grass and wildflower seeds that will build soil, shade tree saplings, and provide pollinator habitat. Using cutting-edge resistance, resilience, and transition strategies, we can and will keep our forests healthy today and for generations to come! Please plan to arrive by 8:45 AM.

What to Bring: Yourself and a bottle of water. Clothes that can get wet and dirty. Tools, gloves, tea & coffee, and pizza will be provided!

Fall Planting on the Ridge | Saturday, October 17th 2026 | 47°32'23.3"N 121°52'35.5"W Snoqualmie, WA 98065

Event Info: Join us on Saturday, October 17th, 2026 from 9 AM-12 PM, for a fun volunteer event at the forest on the corner of SE Muir St and Douglas Ave SE in Snoqualmie Ridge! We will be taking care of our natural areas by planting dozens of native plants along the forest edge, where we planted the first round of plants in November 2024.

In 2024, here along Douglas Ave SE, the City of Snoqualmie invested in the removal of the vast majority of the Armenian blackberry. That November, a large group of volunteers planted the superb sun-loving native plants that will create tree canopy and provide blackberry resistance on this edge. The Lewis' mock orange, snowberry, western white pine, and Sitka spruce have come in quite well, but there is plenty of space that still needs to be filled in. In October 2026, a group of volunteers will bring in even more native shrubs, deciduous trees, and some wildflowers! Let's plant!
